Kate, Coffee & A Whole Lot of Awesome

So today my daughter Kate is exactly 6 months old. It seems utterly incredible that she has now been a part of my life for half of a year, and I have changed more diapers than I care to count! She is happy and healthy and growing like crazy! She is about 18.5 lbs and 28ish inches long (we measured and weighed her ourselves, so it is more of an approximation). Just thought you all might appreciate a little update.

On another note I just had an article published over at EC’s website entitled Coffee Consumption and Health: The Final Word – Part 1. This is a topic near and dear to my heart as I love my coffee in the morning, so be sure not to miss it!

what about mycotoxins in coffee? Seems like a pretty important danger, and a reason to buy high quality and fresh coffee beans

  2. Brian St. Pierre Says:

    Payam,

Mycotoxins can definitely be dangerous, but they are pretty well controlled today – http://www.coffee-ota.org/mycotoxins_what.asp. Regardless it is definitely best to buy quality coffee.

    Brian,

Reading evidence that your coffee addiction has health benefits always makes one feel like a genius. Here’s a question: I’ve read some info about coffee made without paper filters having oil contents that might be a concern to cardiovascular health. Apparently the paper filter tends to catch those oils, but I make all my coffee with a filter free method. Do you have any insight on this? Should I watch out?

  5. Brian St. Pierre Says:

    Ronell,

    Thanks.

    Nick,

There is data to support that yes. What type of filter are you using?

  6. Nick Says:

I use one of these. There is no filter at all. I’m afraid the results are too delicious, I may not be able to go back!

    Brian,
I am convinced! I will never give up my coffee, just my energy drinks and pre workouts.
    Thanks man!

    Lou,

Thank you. As soon as possible!

    Nick,

    Good idea.
